Michael specialises in intellectual property law and advises on legal issues relating to the enforcement and commercialisation of UK and Community intellectual property rights.
He has acted in multi-jurisdictional patent disputes working with legal teams in Europe and the US relating to a range of technologies, including insulin-like growth factors and RFID devices. He has also acted in legal proceedings concerning trade marks, design rights and copyrights in relation to a variety of business sectors.
He has acted in disputes before the High Court, the Patents County Court and the Patent Office.
On the commercial side, Michael provides advice on avoiding disputes and freedom to operate. He also has experience of negotiating and drafting agreements in relation to a broad range of commercial contracts dealing with the acquisition, sale and licensing of intellectual property rights.
Michael joined Marks & Clerk Solicitors on qualification as a Solicitor in March 2002. Prior to qualifying as a solicitor, Michael worked at the European Commission and Deloitte & Touche in Brussels where he worked on intellectual property matters.
Michael is a member of the Law Society and European Patent Lawyers Association. He enjoys running, cycling, kitesurfing, music and films.
